Get Out of Your Rut: Easy, Protein-Packed Recipes for GLP-1 Success

If you’ve been on the GLP-1 ride, you’ve probably figured out what to eat and what supports your results. However, even in a solid routine, you can fall into a rut. Meals and snacks get a little too predictable.

The good news is that being healthy and losing weight doesn’t have to be boring. Below are easy, protein-packed meal and snack ideas that go beyond the usual go-tos.

First, let’s make sure we are on the same page with four important components of eating while on a GLP-1:

1. Protein is King

This is true for many reasons. First off, protein helps preserve lean muscle during fat loss, which is even more important during fast weight loss. It helps to keep the body from using muscle for fuel, which helps to maintain strength and metabolic rate during weight loss. It also keeps you fuller longer, is nutrient-dense (Important when you are eating less!), and steadies blood sugar levels.

Shoot for about 20-40 grams of protein per meal based on activity level. A common daily target is about 0.7–1.0 grams per pound of goal body weight.

2. Fiber too!

The lower motility that comes with GLP-1 use and the increased protein intake to preserve muscle mean you need lots of fiber to keep things moving comfortably.

Aim for the general daily fiber recommendation of 25 grams for women and 38 grams for men, or at least 20-30 grams. Getting enough fiber can combat common constipation, promote fullness, and support gut health.

3. Small Meals for the Win

Because the stomach empties more slowly, eating just a bit too much can lead to a common side effect of GLP-1 use: gastric discomfort that includes nausea, gas, bloating, and uncomfortable fullness.

Instead, eat smaller meals throughout the day. This will also help you absorb nutrients more effectively and avoid large blood sugar spikes and crashes.

Ensuring you get the nutrients your body needs while on a GLP-1 can take some work, but you can hit the easy button by supplementing with Replenza Daily Nutritional Supplement. It’s got you covered with 22 essential vitamins and minerals physician formulated for optimal absorption, and more.

4. Don’t Sleep on Hydration

GLP-1 medication can blunt thirst cues, leading to sluggish digestion and potentially causing constipation and nausea.

Staying hydrated is especially important for supporting energy levels and kidney function. Add plenty of fruits and vegetables, and support your journey with plenty of water.

Maintaining electrolyte balance can be supported with a supplement like Replenza™ Daily Replenisher, specifically formulated for GLP users. Electrolytes help you actually retain fluids, and 1-2 scoops a day added to water not only provide electrolytes but also support digestive health, skin elasticity, and muscle recovery.

Mix it Up with Some of Our Favorite Meals

We’ve come up with some different snacks and meals to take your diet from ho-hum to yum! Kick off the year with these options:

Chinese Food Made Just Right

Dishes like Moo Goo Gai Pan are favorites if you love Chinese food - and it is, in fact, a light,  flavorful, healthy dish of chicken and mushrooms. It’s already GLP-1-friendly (lean protein + veggies), but with a few tweaks, a similar dish can be just as tasty, and even better for you! Here’s how:

The traditional dish is chicken, which is lightly coated with cornstarch and egg white. Skipping the cornstarch, going lighter on oil and sauces, and using less rice (or cauliflower rice instead) creates a healthy option. Try this version from GLP-1 Tribe:

Stir Fry Chicken

Sizzling Ginger Garlic Chicken

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces

Sauces and oils: 1–2 tsp sesame oil + a splash of broth, 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce, 1 tbsp rice vinegar

3 cloves of garlic, minced, and 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger

Veggies: 1 red bell pepper, sliced, 1 cup snow peas, trimmed, 2 cups broccoli florets

● 1 tsp sesame seeds

Instructions

1. In a large skillet or wok, heat the sesame oil over high heat.

2. Add the chicken and cook, stirring frequently, until lightly browned, about 3-4 minutes.

3. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

4. Add the bell pepper, snow peas, and broccoli. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are crisp-tender.

5. Stir in the soy sauce and rice vinegar. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly.

6. Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

7. Serve immediately, alongside a side of ste

amed brown rice or cauliflower rice.

Easy Peasy Edamame Cup Snack

Talk about something different for snacking, but just take seconds to make, this is it! It’s got fiber, plant protein, and sodium to help with hydration, too.

Shelled Edamame

Just 4 easy steps:

1. Start with ¾ cup shelled edamame.

2. Sprinkle salt and chili flakes.

3. Squeeze lemon on top.

4. Even better, eat with some sliced bell peppers.
